Using the Mac/iPhone/iCloud notes app as a small database
We all have to keep track of things: offers, todos, timesheets, etc. - and even in 2025, it’s still hard to keep track. Spreadsheets work for one - and not on mobile, creating something on one’s own can get arbitrarily complex (permissions, UI/UX, etc.) and let’s not get started on legacy tools (like J***, where both permissions and UI/UX is cumbersome or missing completely). However, there is a way, at least for a small number of records, that we all have on our computers and in our pockets already (as long as that’s a Mac or iPhone): the Notes app. It works great on mobile, one can share a single note or a folder with others, it replicates between devices, has tagging & checklists, and it’s paid for with the device.
